World’s first ammonia-powered fuel-cell Electric Vehicle

Electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming popular. However, energy storage and recharging method have raised public attention. Recently, with support from Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF), Automotive Parts and Accessory Systems R&D Centre (APAS), the University of Oxford and industry partners, the PolyU interdisciplinary research team by Prof. Eric Cheng Ka-wai of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Dr Molly Li Meng-jung, the Department of Applied Physics developed the world’s first ammonia-powered fuel-cell EV.

The advantages of ammonia-powered fuel-cell are zero emissions, easy storage, lower cost, safer and higher energy efficiency!
